Beef Korma Recipe

(Mild Curry Indian Recipe)

Serves 4

800g lean steak beef, cut into bit sized pieces

3 tbsp sunflower oil

4 cardamoms

4 cloves

4 whole black peppers

2 small bay leaves

½ teaspoon sugar

2 large onions, thinly sliced

3 garlic cloves, finely chopped

1.5? ginger, finely chopped

3/4   tsp turmeric powder

3/4  tsp chilli powder

300ml thick yoghurt

½  cup water

3/4 tsp garam masala

Salt to taste

Heat the oil and add the cardamoms, cloves, peppers, bay leaves and sugar. When the sugar has caramelised, add the onions and fry for five minutes, then add the garlic and ginger and cook for further five minutes.

Add the turmeric and chilli powder. Then add the yoghurt and cook for another five minutes.

Now add the beef before adding the water and simmer until beef is cooked.  Add the garam masala and salt to taste.
